The biggest wear area of the Copeland discus piston is the wear of the piston ring groove. At the same time, due to the high-speed reciprocating motion of the piston, the piston ring has a great impact on the ring groove; in addition, the high temperature of the combustion gas makes the piston head The operating temperature is high, and the closer to the top of the piston, the higher the temperature and gas pressure. Therefore, the wear Z of the first ring groove is serious, and the wear of the following ring grooves is gradually reduced. The wear of the ring groove is mainly on the lower plane, and the wear on the upper plane is less, so that the ring groove wears into a trapezoid with a small inside and a large outside, which increases the side clearance of the piston ring, causing the cylinder to blow-by gas and oil.
The Copeland discus piston head has little contact with the cylinder wall due to the support function of the piston ring during operation, and its wear is very small.
Although the skirt of the Copeland discus piston is in contact with the cylinder wall, the pressure per unit area is not large and the lubrication conditions are good, so there is less wear and tear, usually the side bearing the lateral force is prone to wear and abrasion.
